The 1x1 degree Terrestrial Mean Free-Air Gravity Anomaly and Geoid Undulations Data Base was compiled and developed by the Ohio State University. This data base was received in March 1993. Principal gravity parameters include mean elevation, mean free-air anomaly and source id. The gravity anomaly computation uses the Geodetic Reference System 1967 (GRS 67) theoretical formula. The data are global in coverage where data are available.
To provide easy access to global and regional gravity data and related models for scientific studies.

Horizontal Positional Accuracy
Horizontal accuracy varies from source contributor to source contributor. However, horizontal positions are usually taken from topographic maps of the area being surveyed. Accuracy may range up to +/- 100 feet.
Vertical Positional Accuracy
Vertical accuracy varies from source contributor to source contributor. However, vertical positions are usually taken from topographic maps of the area being surveyed, monumented benchmark locations, or they are determined by the use of the Global Positioning System (GPS). Accuracy may range from meters to centimeters or better.

Quantitative Attribute Accuracy Assessment
Statistical analysis.
Gravity data values are the result of the measurement of small variations in the gravitational field of the earth. The magnitudes and ranges of these variations are well known in the potential field discipline.
Variable: the average acceleration on the Earth's surface is about 980 centimeters per second squared, which is equal to 980 gals, but increases by about 1/2 percent from equator to pole.
All data were processed by the source before being forwarded to the National Geophysical Data Center
